It was well known as the "The Wooden Wonder" or "The Timber Terror" as the aircraft was mainly made of laminated plywood.
It had famously annoyed and disgraced the Commander-in-Chief of Germany's Air Force (Hermann Wilhelm Göring) in 1943.
Germany was celebrating the 10th anniversary of their seizure of power when a Mosquito attacked the main broadcasting station of Berlin causing the nation speech to be cut off.
