Grumman F4F Wildcat

F4F Wildcat
The Grumman F4F Wildcat was the first fighter aircraft used by
United States in World War II before its
successor the
Grumman F6F Hellcat took over.
These planes were rugged and had a maximum speed of 512km/h although outpaced by the Japanese Zeros.

Lieutenant Commander Edward Henry "Butch" O'Hare was the first Ace pilot who flew his F4F Wildcat and shot down FIVE Japanese Zeros in just 5 minutes.  You can find out more about it in this short video clip in History channel.
