Grumman F6F Hellcat
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was an improved version of their counterpart the Grumman F4F Wildcat. It proved to be a success which outclassed the Ja
panese fighter aircraft mainly the Japanese Zeros and famously known as the Zero Killer.
A total of 5721 enemy aircrafts were destroyed by the F6F Hellcats during the whole of World War II.
Here is an exciting F6F Hellcat dogfight video from the History channel to demonstrate its prowess.
However, this is the not end. A smaller but more maneuverable and powerful successor was soon introduced, the Grumman F8F Bearcat.
